A perennial destination for architecture and design travelers, The Avalon Hotel Beverly Hills was designed in 1948 as the Beverly Carlton by legendary graphic and furniture designer Alvin Lustig and Sam Reisbord. In its first heyday, the chic mid-century destination counted among its A-list residents Marilyn Monroe, Mae West, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. (Lucky for us, thereās no shortage of iconic images of Monroe in her Canon apartment.)
